•About Ellie Escher•

Ellie Escher has a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Magna cum laude) from Scripps College in Claremont, CA and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy (with distinction) from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.

Since graduation in 2004 Ms. Escher has been teaching voice privately in Maplewood and Morristown (now in Mendham instead) and currently sees nearly 40 students weekly of all ages and levels. She teaches solid bel canto voice technique through musical theater, folk song, art song and opera repertoire. She tailors each lesson to the students needs and believes a fun and supportive atmosphere is key to successful teaching. She uses fact based pedagogy in combination with kinesthetic approaches including yoga to help students find a free and authentic vocal prodution and sound.

Ms. Escher's students have been accepted into many choirs, programs and colleges including Morris County Honors Choir, Morris and Union County Region Choirs, New Jersey All State Choir, National Honors Choir, Manhattan School of Music Pre-college program, Westminster Choir College Solo Vocal institute, NJPAC's Summer Youth Performance Workshop, Paper Mill Playhouse New Voices summer program, Ithaca College, Westminster Choir College, Muhlenberg College, Bucknell College, Cornell University, Indiana University and Amherst College.

Ms. Escher continues to perform locally as a recitalist, in Operetta productions with Ridge Light Opera, in musicals with Plays in the Park in Basking Ridge and as a member and soloist with the Harmonium Choral Society.

In 2008 Ms. Escher was one of 12 young teachers selected to participate in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Summer intern program.
